First Day in my Olympic Role

9th July 2012

Nothing ever runs smooth.

Today I woke up and thought I would do a dry run to the Olympic Village before I was due into work for 7pm.

I took my bus to the Village which was an hour journey. Great I got there with no problems what so ever.

As I got back to my hotel to rest up before I took the journey back later that evening, I had a phone call to say the GBR meeting had finished a lot earlier than expected. (the meeting was scheduled for 11 hours).

Having been asked to get  to the Village ASAP, I made a number of calls to the rest of my team to come in also.

We were all warmly welcomed by our senior GBR Team, and quickly got stuck in to our duties.

As the last minute preparations get under way before the Athletes start arriving by the end of the week, myself and the team were tasked with ensuring the Athletes rooms were in full working order, with every detail in place.

It was great to see the rooms for the first time.

At the end of our shift we all went for food in the dining area, where the Athletes will eat during their stay.

First day over and I am still smiling, bring on  tomorrow....
