10th July 2012
I took the 7.25am bus ride to my work force
entry as I prepared for another day of preparation for the arrival of the
Athletes.
Today myself and my team of 11 other Games
Makers continued to ensure all of our athletes rooms were in order, which
involves checking the toilets, showers
doors, and locks were working, and none of the new furniture was faulty.
We repeated this for all 600 plus rooms so no
mean feat! There were a few concerns but will all be sorted out quickly.
There are some excellent views from the Athletes balcony's.
In the afternoon I helped the senior team put
out the GBR Flags to show the Athletes where their headquarters are based in
the village. Here they will come if they have any concerns, and also where Andy
Hunt the Chef De Mission, his team, and my team are based. We battled with all types of weather whilst putting up the Flags...
Finally by early evening we were set to
allocate all keys to each room to ensure we had the correct amount of keys for
all the Athletes assigned to the rooms. This proved impossible, as all rooms
that had been given numbers before had changed over the weeks, which meant that
the key sequence did not marry up to the paperwork. We needed to abandon that task,
wait for tomorrow when the residence centre managers work out which keys are
for which rooms.
12 hours later I went to catch my bus back to my hotel, exhausted but still smiling..
